Bruce has been working in the mental health field for 15 years throughout the Greater Kansas City area.  Previously, Bruce served as a surface warfare officer in the Navy and has worked with many military families coping with the unique challenges they face.  Early in his career, Bruce worked for the world renowned Menninger Clinic where he was the director of emergency psychiatric services for the Greater Kansas City area.  Latter, Bruce served area psychiatric hospitals and was responsible for their therapeutic programming as well as continuing to provide hands on direct therapy to clients of all ages and backgrounds. 

Recently, Bruce and his colleagues saw the need for more specialized, high quality outpatient services based on outcomes research and customized to the individual client's needs.  To accomplish this and serve the community, Journeys was created and partnered with Kansas City Psychiatric & Psychological Services their reputation and time proven effective and compassionate care.

 

Bruce is responsible for the coordination and operations of Journey's Provider Support Services as well as support services for the outpatient services.

Background
Bruce grew up in the Greater Kansas City area and currently lives a short distance away in a rural Kansas community along with horses, pigs, dogs and the rest of the farm.

Bruce's three kids live with him and this is a good thing because taking care of all those animals is a lot of work.  Bruce volunteers his time and leadership with a youth program, the US Naval Sea Cadet Corps and his past times include high power rifle competition and horseback ridding.

Bruce attended undergraduate training at the University of Kansas on a Navy scholarship.  He earned his graduate degree from Avila University in Kansas City, MO.

Bruce's practicum and internship training were through Charter Hospital, CPC College Meadows and The Menninger Clinic.  Bruce has been a member of the National Association of Master Psychologist for the past ten years as well as one of the founders of the the Greater Kansas City Psychiatric Hospital Coalition in conjunction with the Missouri Hospital Association.
